A Young Maiden's Daybook

Today… Sunday, January 31,2010

Outside… cold and snowy

I am thinking… about the will of God

I am thankful for... The life found in Christ

I am wearing… A denim jumper with a purple and gold paisley turtleneck over it,a light pink head scarf with dark fuschia butterflies on it.

I am reading… On The Trail Of Truth

I am creating… The sock for my older brother

One of my favorite things. . . Sharing my thoughts with those that are dear to me

For education this week… teaching my self to play the fiddle

A keeper at home skill I am using/learning … serving

A spiritual lesson I’m learning… faith

A godly character trait I plan to work on… stop criticizing others, speaking words that edify others, use my mouth to glorify the Lord.

Scripture I am memorizing… not any at the moment. When I do I memorize it by learning a new scripture to sing.

I am praying for… Guidance

For the rest of the week… To glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Bring joy and peace to those around me, have grace in my heart, Be content with what ever happens.

A picture to share...

psalm 61

Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.

From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.

Thou wilt prolong the king's life: and his years as many generations.

He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.

So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.

God hears prayer. The heritage He has given me is beautiful to me. My heart is overwhelmed right now. He is leading me to the rock, Jesus Christ my Lord. I will cast my self upon this rock, the stone that the builders rejected that has become the chief corner stone. He is higher than I. God is preserving me, He is is keeping me. His mercy and truth will follow me all the days of my life. I love the Lord because He first loved me. He teaching me to die daily. Giving and poring out the love that he has given me. This life is hard and difficult. But the greatest joy comes by suffering. I would not know peace without a storm. I would not know life without death. I will praise Him for He has delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling. When I am falling He picks me up and holds me in His loving arms. I trust in the Lord. He is ever before me. I will rest in Him.

"How Firm a Foundation"

How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,

Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said
Who unto the Savior for refuge have fled?

In every condition, -- in sickness, in health,
In poverty's vale, or abounding in wealth,
At home and abroad, on the land, on the sea, --
The Lord, the Almighty, they strength e'er shall be.

"Fear not, I am with thee, oh, be not dismayed,
For I am thy God and will still give thee aid;
I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,
Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.

"When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
For I will be with thee thy troubles to bless
And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.

"When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
My grace, all-sufficient, shall be thy supply.
The flames shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.

"E'en down to old age all My people shall prove
My sovereign, eternal, unchangeable love;
And when hoary hairs shall their temples adorn,
Like lambs they shall still in My bosom be borne.

"The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
I will not, I will not, desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I'll never, no never, no never, forsake!"

Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. I need faith. Faith that will not shrink from what ever lies on the path that God has prepared for me. The Hand of the Lord is ever upon me. He knows what I hope for. He sees the things I can't see. This brings great joy to my heart that there is someone that knows everything, cares about everything and desires the best for me. When I look back on these days in years to come, will I understand and know? Yes! I will! for now I see in a mirror dimly but then face to face. For now I know in part but then I shall know just as I also am known. Oh the joy! the peace that that thought brings to me.
I want to live for truth and walk by the spirit. So when things don't make any sense to me and everything does not seem to be how I thought it would be. I will rest in Him, Jesus Christ my Lord who is going before me though valley, Speaking to me, I know His voice, He is leading me homeward. The gentle Shepherd, God of Love, God of grace.

The days are quickly going by. The moments are fleeing. This life is but a vapor, my God is forever. It is in the quiet place of resting that I find Him. He is always here He knows all that I am going through. He's felt all that I'm going through, He's all that I need. Jesus knows and He cares for me. Jesus knows so I wait patiently, For Him to answer all my prayers. For Him to heal me in my despair. Jesus knows. He shares all my sorrows and joys. He has shined upon me and brought a song into my life. I am learning to sing this song. He has stretched out His hand to help me. I have been lifted up into His arms and He will keep me. He knows this pathway. It has been prepared by Him. He knows the next step. I will keep my mind stayed on Him. I take each day as it comes and whatever He wills is best.

Oh Thou, in whose presence my soul takes delight, on whose in affliction I call, my comfort by day, and my song in the night, my hope, my salvation, my all.

Where dost thou, dear Shepherd, resort with thy sheep to feed them in pastures of love? Say, way in the valley of death should I weep or alone in this wilderness rove?

Oh way should I wander, an alien from thee, or cry in the desert for bread? Thy foes will rejoice when my sorrows they see, and smile at the tears I have shed.

He looks and ten thousands of angels rejoice, and myriads wait for His word; He speaks, and eternity, filled with His voice, re-echoes the praise of the Lord.

Dear Shepherd, I hear, and will follow Thy call I know the sweet sound of your voice. Restore and defend me, for Thou art my all, and in Thee I will ever rejoice. ~ Joseph Swaim

A fine day!

Me and Hannah went to our sister's to watch our nephews while our older sister went to the small town nearby. We had so much fun! My younger nephew (8 1/2 months) is so sweet he is learning so fast.Crawling all over and keeping up with his older brother's running feet. I am sure that he will be walking soon. I think the best thing that happened today was I found out that he understands everything that I say to him. This is how it happened I was holding him and I told him to clap his hands and he did it right away. I said "look he knows what I am saying!" my sister said "yes' he knows everything that we are saying". I also Helped J. to say "Mazie". They both are so sweet! Little ones are gifts from the Father. They are looking up to me and watching everthing that I say and do. I want to be a good example to them. They are watching and listening more then I even know.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. ps. 19:14

Here I am! This is what I am doing today!

Got up at 6:30 made pancakes, milked Mocha and Shwanlie, went skiing, got water cress, met up with Enoch and Nathanael on the power line, when skiing with them for awhile,came back, cleaned kitchen and that means down to the dirt!, started buns and stew for dinner, making tea with Hannah for the men out in the building, Daddy, my brother, and a friend are putting up drywall. Zac stopped by on his way to T.C. and helped for awhile. I have to start cleaning the dinning room. there are still a little bit of dishes to wash and a pile to put away....bye!.. I will be back for more news...bye!

... Here I am again, I have to make this really quick. I want to get to bed early so I can get up early in the morning. I had been getting up so late.
I cleaned the dining room, then the bathroom. Finished making dinner it was ready by 6:00 p.m. Stew, buns, cheeses, cressto( water cress pesto), Our friend Zac came for the meal. After meal I did dishes. It feels so good to be caught up on the dishes!

I have started a new thing this week. Every evening I do a facial steam then I use the scrub and washes that my mother ordered for me and my sister, they work really well. I drink a infusion of nettles. and eat raw veggies every day. (in the winter that is carrots and water cress).
Then just before I go to bed I eat 1T of flax seed oil and a big spoonful of yogurt. And I eat one pokeberry without the seeds( that is not for the face thing). My older sister called today to tell me of a face thing that she did and she liked it alot. She did not even know that I have been doing a face treatment trial! Here's what she told me. I am going to try it to night. Take an egg white and put it on your face let it dry then rub it off gently then take sugar and some kind of fruit like strawberries or pomegranate rub that on the face. after that put yogurt on, then after that a night cream or some kind of facial cream.
If you do it. tell me how you like it. Right now Just after I read this post to Hannah, my younger brother ran up stars and told my other brothers " listen to their latest facial thing!"
Brothers are so fun! I also did a little bit of knitting while Daddy read a chapter from the book he has been reading to us. Well I better be going to bed but before I go I have a prayer request.
Some very dear friends that we have known for a long time got in a head on car crash today and they need to be kept in our prayers. Thanks for praying The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Good night

Just got back from town, Me, my older sister, my little nephews and my mother went out to help my sister with her shopping. We had such a nice time. After shopping at Wally- world we went to shay's station for a bite to eat. Then we went to "Second chance" and did some resale shopping there. I found a really pretty head scarf, two purple turtlenecks and a black shirt. I had alot of fun keeping watch on my nephew J. He is very energetic and always looking for interesting things to get into.
My other nephew is always laughing and making me smile :) If ever I am feeling down or sad about something all I have to do is look at my sweet little nephews and I know that everything is just fine!
They bring joy to my heart. Their bright eyes gladden my heart. Even though they are not my babies. I still feel really close to them. I can't wait till I have my own they will be even closer.
I am so blessed. Makes me wonder why I get so down and grumpy so often. I should be content and happy and find joy in the very place God has for me right now. I need to become as a little child. Sitting in my Papa's lap listening to His gentle words to me. This is where I want to stay.
I am resting ever resting. In His loving arms.

File:The Knitting Woman painting by William-Adolphe Bouguereau.jpg

Walking back from the bakery building with a load of dry laundry, it is dark out here the lights in the windows of the house are glowing out to me, the icicles are sparkling. the snow is softly crunching under my slippered, wool socked feet. A smell comes into my nose as I get closer towards the house and guesthouse... woodsmoke! Ah, how I like that smell! winter! It is here and I am enjoying every bit of it. I was just out there hanging up four loads. We have a line up in the loft of our big building. Daddy just put a new stove in there so it is so nice and toasty warm. This past week I was working on kniting a pair of ... well you will have to just wait because I think my sister Hannah will want to post it on her blog! But I really want to show you! so I'll wait until she tells.

Here is a song that kept me going today:

Thou Thinkest Lord Of Me

Words and Music by E.S. Lorenz and E.D. Mund

Amid the trials that I meet,
Amid the thorns that pierce my feet,
One thought remains supremely sweet:
Thou thinkest, Lord, of me!

Thou thinkest, Lord, of me!
Thou thinkest, Lord, of me!
What need I fear when Thou art near,
And thinkest, Lord, of me!

The cares of life come thronging fast,
Upon my soul their shadows cast;
Their gloom reminds my heart at last -
Thou thinkest, Lord, of me!

Thou thinkest, Lord, of me!
Thou thinkest, Lord, of me!
What need I fear when Thou art near,
And thinkest, Lord, of me!

Let shadows come, let shadows go,
Let life be bright, or dark with woe,
I am content, for this I know -
Thou thinkest, Lord, of me!

Thou thinkest, Lord, of me!
Thou thinkest, Lord, of me!
What need I fear when Thou art near,
And thinkest, Lord, of me!

No matter what happens I know that Jesus thinks of me. He loves me with an enduring, unfailing, unfading love. I will rest in this. This is what I am keeping my mind on. I will not fear what the devil may say, I will not fear what the devil my do, But I will walk in the path of the righteous one for it is ordered of my Lord. The battle rages on the time has come to stand in awe and see the victory of my God! The time has come for strongholds to be taken down the flesh has no place to stay. Come what may I will sing my Lord has concord everything from this storm and darkness unto His day I'll show forth his praise! He is my God in Him will I put my faith and trust and never let go.
What if the kingdoms tumble down
What if the storm clouds roll
What if this world be destroyed
I know He will take care of my soul
A thousand may fall at my side
And tens upon my right
Terror shall not nigh me dwell
For Jesus is my might
A fortress and a tower is He
For all who dare to trust
And under the shadow of His great wings
I am sheltered from the storm

An empty canvas waits for the Painter.

And waits to be the painting he must be.

Unto this end it rightly was created

To reflect rightly what the Painter sees.

Now I must wonder what His eyes are now beholding

As they surely turn their gaze to behold me

As my lips so often speak the name of Jesus.

Will the canvas hold His image within me?

Few be the lovers in this painting,

Few be the lovers of His cross.

Many will be joined at the Lords table

Beckoned there to feast or to dine.

Who among us still will be found faithful

To be the blest and to drink the cup of His wine?

Few be the lovers in this painting,

Few be the lovers of His cross.

Who will remain to cry in tribulation?

Who will remain as to hunger in the fast?

Who will remain to die to save another?

Who will be first as to be recorded last?

Few be the lovers in this painting,

Few be the lovers of His cross.

Isn't it the passion of His glory?

Isn't it the paradox of shame?

Isn't the beauty of this painting?

Oh but isn't it the power of His Name!

Few be the lovers in this painting, few be the lovers of His cross.

We were created in the image of the Father. Are we reflecting His glory?

And The Mystery Picture Is...

Two Jerusalem artichoke tubers!

The Jerusalem artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus), also called the sunroot or sunchoke or earth apple or topinambur, is a species of sunflower native to the eastern United States, from Maine west to North Dakota, and south to northern Florida and Texas. It is also cultivated widely across the temperate zone for its tuber, which is used as a root vegetable.
Despite its name, the Jerusalem artichoke has no relation to Jerusalem, and it is not a type of artichoke, even though both are members of the Daisy family. The origin of the name is uncertain. Italian settlers in the USA called the plant Girasole, the Italian word for sunflower because of its resemblence to the garden sunflower. Over time the name Girasole may have been corrupted to Jerusalem. To avoid confusion some people have recently started to refer to it as sunchoke or sunroot.

The artichoke part of the Jerusalem artichoke's name comes from the taste of its edible tuber. Samuel de Champlain, the French explorer, sent the first samples of the plant to France, noting that its taste was similar to an artichoke.

Happy New Year!

Here is a new year before me. I have no idea what is in store for me. All that I know is that Jesus Christ is Lord! As I think back on the past year. I am so blessed. He has brought me this far. He will take me forward. I will not let go of His hand and when I fall down He will pick me up. This road is a very rough and a rugged one and it is up hill all the way. I have been traveling long and hard but still my face is turned toward the sun. I remember when I first saw it rise and It's rays shined upon me and it's warmth and burning filled my soul. It is Jesus that keeps me going He is at work both to will and to do His good pleasure in me and through me.

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow
words and music by Ira Stanphill
          I don't know about tomorrow,
          I just live from day to day.
          I don't borrow from it's sunshine,
          For it's skies may turn to gray.
          I don't worry o'er the future,
          For I know what Jesus said,
          And today I'll walk beside Him,
          For He knows what is ahead.

              Refrain
              Many things about tomorrow,
              I don't seem to understand;
              But I know Who holds tomorrow,
              And I know Who holds my hand.

          Ev'ry step is getting brighter,
          As the golden stairs I climb;
          Ev'ry burden's getting lighter;
          Ev'ry cloud is silver lined.
          There the sun is always shining,
          There no tear will dim the eyes,
          At the ending of the rainbow,
          Where the mountains touch the sky.

              Refrain
              Many things about tomorrow,
              I don't seem to understand;
              But I know Who holds tomorrow,
              And I know Who holds my hand.

          I don't know about tomorrow,
          It may bring me poverty;
          But the One Who feeds the sparrow,
          Is the One Who stands by me.
          And the path that be my portion,
          May be through the flame or flood,
          But His presence goes before me,
          And I'm covered with His blood.

              Refrain
              Many things about tomorrow,
              I don't seem to understand;
              But I know Who holds tomorrow,
              And I know Who holds my hand.
